I recently ETSed from Active and prior to doing so signed a declaration statement because the Army was trying to send me to GA 6 months prior to me ETSing and it wasn’t best for my family and I. I already planned to go into the Reserves which I am in now. My unit is trying to push my promotion forward to SSG but due to the 9Q code being in IPPS-A I am not eligible. Now that I am in the Reserves how to get this code lifted. My Reserve careeer counselor nor chain of command know what to do so I am reaching out for help, so I can progress in the Reserves How do I get 9Q removed from my record and IPPS-A? 2023-10-14T18:16:58-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 8514413

Hello. I believe that you require an Army decision to determine if the reenlistment code of 9Q was in error or unjustified. Recommend that you complete a DD Form 149 requesting what you want to be changed and include your justification and supporting documents. The final decision on your request will likely come from the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR), which reviews requests like yours. You can also look at AR 15-185 for instructions and how to apply to the board.

When you were identified for reassignment you had 30 days from the time of notification to take one of the following actions:
- Elect a discharge for the purpose of immediate reenlistment
- Extend current enlistment
- Elect a combination of reenlistment and extension if in the best interests of the Soldier and the Army
- Decline continued service

BL: This action is required regardless of the SRR start or report date, to include those after the Soldier's current ETS. Soldiers eligible, but refusing, to take action to satisfy military SRRs will be denied further service through the DA Form 4991-R (DCSS).
