How should we deal with a TPU officer with no clearance?

We have a reserve officer who has lost their security clearance and no chance of a security clearance. Can we tell them not to come to BA and give them Us?

You need to get HR professionals involved ASAP! Until proper orders or discharge is received by that Officer without a clearance they're still incurring life insurance debt monthly. Don't tell them not to attend drill when your not authorized.

Sir, call branch at HRC and ensure they are aware of this situation. They will assist you in getting your Soldier processed either completely out or into the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR).

I'm assuming that the Army TPU stands for 'Transient Personnel Unit' like it does in the Navy... If I've got that wrong, this whole thing will likely not make any sense.

If it is like any other TPU I've interacted with, there is PLENTY of non-clearance-requiring busy-work to do... keeping track of the young'uns enroute their units or on some manner of 'hold'-- usually medical or legal. Assuming this person isn't a complete lying dirtbag POS that can't be trusted to blow his/ her own nose, make this officer responsible for general tracking of the young'uns. There will always be berthing, pay, travel issues that come up and/or providing transportation to medical appointments or command representation at legal events that someone needs to keep on top of. Most of the time, those duties fall to an E-6 or E-7 who is there on 'hold' for whatever reason, but if you need to find something for this officer to do, that is the path I would recommend.

I'm also guessing-- since this is a TPU officer-- that he/she should not count against your overall manning, but I'm not sure how that works in the reserves.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member from my understanding they are not allowed to serve as an officer anymore due to not having a security clearance. Check with your S1 and S2 and get the paperwork together and submit the packet to kick them out of the unit. As far as telling them not to come and giving them U's I am not sure. Check with your JAG officer or your higher HQ's JAG. They should know all the answers.

I would doubt you can tell them not come to come to drill and then "U" them. Before I retired from the Reserves I've seen this type of thing happened to soldiers who may have had a clearance and then when renewing it had it denied, the denials were mostly for poor credit history such as bankruptcy etc. Not sure how much use an Officer or even a Senior NCO without a security clearance can be.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member My educated guess, is you are stuck with him till he is involuntarily seperated. He can not remain a commissioned officer without the clearance (unless its a temp suspension and it is likely to be validated and reapproved soon)

Assign duties consummate to abilities and clearance status ......and That would be ...ahhhhh, Duty driver? ID card checker at entrance, ahhhh, Motor Pool hazmat and oil sump clean out tech...?
