How should the police deal with the protestors appearing at Trump events? Personally, I detest civil disobedience/not obeying lawful orders.

They should be dealt with by using the appropriate level of force. Tear gas, water-cannons, whatever nonlethal means are necessary to return order to the situation.

Jail for the serious offenders, community service for lesser offenders (people who doing more than just carrying signs and speaking out). If they are found to be illegals immediate deportation. If they are on welfare complete loss of all benefits.

If they are peacefully protesting that's fine, but when you get into destruction of property, willful disobedience etc arrests need to be made.

The rioters need to be dealt with harshly and quickly by the police. The majority of the troublemakers are not actual protestors.

If you look at the crowds closely, you will see anarchists mixed in with real protestors. These knuckleheads go to protests and intentionally destroy things and cause problems. They don't care about the actual cause.

Real folks who actually care about the cause will listen to the police and back off when asked. The anarchists types will fight back.

The Constitution protects the right of people to peaceably assemble. If the assembly is not peaceable, use pepper spray.

As long as theu dont hurt anyone, or destroy property nothing. Escort them from the premises. You do any of the forementioned things and jail time nothing else. But all the people attacking protesters should he prosecuted as well.

Notice the cops in Anaheim are practicing a riot control procedure that has been around for at least 52 years. Identifying the suspected leaders or the most active rock thrower, Opening up the line, sending 4-5 cops out to bring him back in. If you bring in a NON rock thrower who appears to have a following in the crowd, this would be a great source of Intel. Contrary to what the left would like us to believe, most of these protests are planned by those who have an agenda to further. Some of the rock throwers and flag burners DO NOT have a clue as to why they are protesting. Someone gave them 20 bucks apiece and said go have fun downtown, voila......a riot.....

It's a conundrum, the majority of the protesters are peaceful and just expressing their right to assemble and speak-out.
It's the few that are mixed in with other motives. In a high charged crowd it takes very little to set them off. It's the perfect setting for groups like MoveOn and CodePink to send their paid provocateurs to ignite the protestors.
The police need to be quick to arrest those people and if the peaceful protestors want to help, it will give them a good PR opportunity.

You have conflated two issues: Demonstrators and Civil Disobedience. Demonstrators are exercising their right to free speech. Police should respect their right and protect them from harm. However, they should also insure that their demonstrations are lawful. Civil Disobedience is, by definition, breaking the law to make a statement. Law breakers should be apprehended and prosecuted. When demonstrators cross the line from lawful speech to civil disobedience, they should be treated accordingly. I can't imagine how those who commit civil disobedience can cross the line the other way, but I'm sure they do and the police probably turn a blind eye if there is no lasting injury such as property damage or assault on a person.

Don't misinterpet my other post as too soft. I think it's important to maintain the same posture we have been maintaining against these thugs because it's still Obama's anti-police government.

However, once Trump is in office, it will be much easier to enforce laws again (finally) and treat rioters as combatives instead of pretending they are peaceful.

Anyone who thinks these "people" are there to assemble peaceably, have NAIVE tattooed on their forehead. The acts of these persons is premeditated and willful. Their purpose is to disrupt and destroy. My days on the riot line are over. In my day, someone was to set something on fire and even begin to look like he or she was about to throw it in my direction, the result was swift and decisive. Today's police are hamstrung and hog tied from the Git-Go, and I do not envy them one bit.

__Penalties for rioting need to be stiffened, to the point of being life altering. 2-5 years depending on the level of violence and the degree of conspiracy days. Concomitant charges and lesser included charges should be served consecutively not concurrently.
__Repeat offenders should find subsequent conviction penalties multiplied by 2-3 times.
__A law similar to the RICO statutes needs to be passed. Those that are caught need to be investigated with a fine tooth comb. If in fact they are being paid to protest that should be considered an aggravating factor and their sentences should be multiplied by 2-3 times.
__If they are encouraged to go violent as part of a pre-meditated conspiracy, the aggravating factor should once again multiply their sentence by 2-3 times.
__If someone loses their life during the protests or faces life altering injuries, life imprisonment should be on the table if a level of conspiracy can be proven, whether mayhem or homicide was intended or not.
__The severity of their sentences should be lessened by the degree to which they cooperate into the investigation of conspiracy and their ability to substantiate their cooperation.
__Their financiers should be incarcerated for decades and fined enough to rebuild square miles of blighted inner cities and infrastructure.

CSM Charles Hayden I got to observe the German police handle demonstrators back in the 70s. They brought in water cannons with a die in the water. The high pressure water did a great job if disrupting the event and the die allowed them to follow up later...
