I get caution. I get fear. I even get paranoia.

However, I would hope that we would temper these base emotions with rational thought and critical thinking.

We have seen what happens when we React with fear & paranoia, as opposed to Act. We end up with horrid Policy like the DHS as a monster organization, or the TSA which couldn't find its tail with both hands and a flashlight.

Yes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, but a ton of prevention is not worth an ounce of cure. Our current policies (prior to any of this ISIS/ISIL/DAESH issues) are VERY restrictive to begin with. Anyone who thinks otherwise has done little to no research.

They should react the way their conscience dictates. Regardless of military affiliation we are citizens first and as such have the right to criticize or endorse the policies of our government. Washington's letter to the New York legislature 26 June 1775 says it best "When we assumed the Soldier, we did not lay aside the Citizen". We may not always agree on what the correct path is, but we all have the right to form and share our opinions based on what we believe.

I think we should take care of Syrian refugees the same way we took care of the Iraqi refugees, by toppling their shitty government, exterminating the rats that live there, and helping them to to rebuild their own country.

With an open heart but cautious mind. Anyone touting our current vetting process for refugees as adequate is beyond naive. We all know the underpaid government employees doing this work are masters of time management and strive to do the best job they can while working 12 hour shifts (dripping with sarcasm). We actually have no true way to vet Syrian refugees, as no databases exist with information on the population. The databases that may contain data (FBI, CIA, NSA) are only checked if there is reasonable suspicion and certainly not for every single refugee. We should absolutely be taking in refugees, but the system needs to be greatly improved with major oversight. As is, the government hides this program from public view as much as possible.

Refugees arriving here, will go on Government assistance..(Where's the Money) They will need jobs ??? I am STILL waiting for all these jobs that Congress promised several years ago !! Where are these jobs ? What about our own Children.. Where are their jobs ?? Most Americans are TIRED, and are becoming Poorer each week ! We have enormous problems of our own.. we do NOT need to take on more.. We Can't even take care of our VETS !!.. Remember, "An Ounce of Prevention" !!

Refugees are one thing; terrorists another. We know it is probable that some of the refugees are terrorists. When you can convince me with absolute certainty which is which, then I'll agree to start letting the refugees in. Until then, the prudent thing to do is not let anyone in. I don't recall any of our founding fathers saying we need to give potential terrorists the benefit of the doubt when it comes to safeguarding our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

Negative. It's a no go by sheer numbers. Money numbers (so in debt America couldn't afford peanut butter and Ramen without help), job numbers (because they've been shredding Germany in protest of having free food and safety but no work), numbers of people (where will we put them?), and most important, unidentified number of hostile personnel. Countys taking on refugees are having problems with sanitation, rape, crime, violence, and security. Do we want those problems here? How would we control them? There's still a war on, and our defense budget was recently hacked to pieces, with draw downs on the way. Who will provide security? When the fighting starts, who will quell an uprising? We are a shining city on a hill. However, we've been at war doing humanitarian crap for the last 15 years. Sorry sir, but Mr. Foster cannot support.

There is no should... It's a matter of opinion. It's also a matter of who you are.

I, myself am against assisting anyone or anything before those served in the military regardless of combat or lack there of.
