I need to notify my unit that there’s a possibility I may be moving but since there isn’t anything set in stone I don’t really know how to approach this since I could be moving anywhere. I’ve only been in for about a year but only out of basic for 4 months. I received a bonus and the Gi bill kicker and other incentives in my contract. I’m thinking since I just joined it would be difficult to ask for a transfer. I actually like my unit and the guys I serve with so I’m also thinking of moving out on my own. I’m just confused on how to approach this situation so any advice would help. If there happens to be a NCO or officer on here that I can talk with to figure out the best course of action to take I’d greatly appreciate it.How should I handle interstate transfer in the National Guard?2019-09-14T15:35:15-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member5023346<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My parents are planning on moving out soon but they aren’t really sure where they are moving to as of yet, they keep changing their minds as to where they are moving. Then, you need to get the transfer paperwork rolling. This is usually done by the gaining unit. Bear in mind that your current Commander DOES NOT have to sign approval for transfer. <br />Now, with that being said, since your parents are on the fence as to when/if they are moving, this would be a great time to move out on your own, establish yourself and get your foundation built. Especially if you like your current unit. Why fix what isn't broken, right?Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 14 at 2019 5:27 PM2019-09-14T17:27:03-04:002019-09-14T17:27:03-04:00CPL Gary Pifer5024316<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Reservists move all the time. It's no big deal. I would wait to bring it up until it's concrete.Response by CPL Gary Pifer made Sep 14 at 2019 11:22 PM2019-09-14T23:22:03-04:002019-09-14T23:22:03-04:002019-09-14T15:35:15-04:00
