How much will the 'flag flap' be part of the 2016 national elections?

Given the apparent rise of public racially-motivated incidents this past 24 months across the country, and the current brouhaha over the confederate battle flag....how big a part will the 'flag flap' be in the 2016 national elections? Should it be? Why or why not? What is the real racial problem in our country? Does it spill over to the military? Should confederate flags be allowed on military posts?

It will be an issue because the media and candidates will MAKE it an issue.

This isn't the first time this little tiff has happened. It will only affect SC politicians up for re-election. No one else will care in a couple months.

I hope a small one, I expect it will be a large one, controversial wedge issues that keep eyes off the real threats and machinations of power are often emphasized.

I'm sure it will find a place front and center because Lord knows it's the cause of all the problems in this country. I would like to be a fly on the wall of Clinton campaign HQ to see what made up BS points there coming up for her to talk around on the subject. I mean being from Arkansas she must have some thoughts on it.

I see flags, banners, bumper stickers etc. Depicting everything one can think of. My wife is Philippine and I live there part of the time, we have a Philippine flag and an American flag on our balcony. I see Vietnamese flags, Mexican flags, Korean flags, not to mention all the different military unit flags everywhere everyday, does ll this "crap" mean we must do away with all these because some wish to assgn a BS label to one of these or all of them? We have so many cultures that speak, eat, dress, worship, celebrate different holidays, so us outlaw all this and force one group's negative opinions on everyone. I do believe the Confederate flag stood for more than racism. Tolerance, understanding and communication is what we should be focusing on, oh by the way....screw Walmart!

This flag was never a flag of the confederation, it was the battle flag of the army of northern Virginia led by GEN Lee. I see no reason why it is flying over the capital building of South Carolina. If people really want to complain about the Confederate flag being displayed the current Georgia flag was inspired by the original flag of the confederacy. If anything South Carolina is trying to steal Virginia heritage...

My question is "Did they not put the actual flag of the Confederacy on it because they were stupid or simply because they wanted to make more money from people who were too stupid to know what the actual flag of the Confederacy was?".
