How much of today's social unrest in the United States do you believe is the result of foreign "active mesures"?

The term dezinformatsiya, coined by Joseph Stalin, is disinformation in practice. Stalin wanted it to sound French in order to claim it had a Western origin. Beyond the frail attempt to blur the words origins KGB defectors claim 25% of their time was spent on creating dezinformatsiya. One such skilled individual of this active measure was Valdimir Putin. He excelled to the point being appointed as the Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB).

Not so long ago we were warned about Russia's efforts and even provided insight in how such a long game would be carried out via "active measures". Russia would turn blacks against whites, authority against the people, rich against the poor and so on until a crisis would emerge. I can't help but to believe that to some degree what is transpiring in America today is a result of a sustained disinformation campaign by Russian intelligence. It seems more sponsored and transfixed on tearing down and dividing society than working towards any resolutions. Police are now the the enemy, if you stand for the national anthem you're not a patriot you're a racist, any sort of accumulated wealth is now greed and evil not success. The political divide is closer to resembling continental drift than a gap that could be bridged with a handshake. I feel old Yuri was trying to tell us something back in the 80's. Lookout for Putin's long game - its coming.

I honestly believe that when it comes down to understanding and manipulating our system both the Russians and Chinese are like the keystone cops and our system is well beyond their comprehension or attempts to manipulate. I think FOX News and MSDNC both are too excessive in their assessment of Russian capabilities in this area and I don't take either channel seriously when they come up with a conspiracy theory.

Probably not much. MY guess is that most of you are not old enough to personally remember the antiwar movement of the late sixties and early 70's. The hard core were just weird and completely disaffected. My mother, a military spouse, was one of them. I got a ton of "no-shitters" about being the son of an anti-war "hippie mom" and a senior Naval Officer. It would make a great sitcom, with the occasional episode that makes you cry.

Watergate,
Iran Contra,
Pedophile Catholic Priests,
Bad faith Televangelist Mega Church, con artist Protestant Preachers
Bill Clinton's perjury
G.W. Bush's recession
Obama's apologies
etc. etc. etc.

destroyed our faith in our government institutions and our spiritual institutions. The children, grand children and followers of the anti-war movement are now in power, or positions of influence. It wasn't some well-planned conspiracy, just the natural consequences of leaders who don't "tend the garden." One day you go to get some tomatoes and the weeds are out of control.

I believe "disinformation" is as old as politics, but it has been more widely spread, thanks to the Internet and people's lack of interest in learning the actual truth of an issue. It is just easier to clink on your favorite web site and buy what they are selling.
The truth is out there, one just has to have the desire to find it.

Hard to say. A non insignificant amount but it's very effective because they found fertile soil in which to start with.

This goes back to at least the Branch Dividian compound and Timothy McVeigh which was before the current misinformation efforts. Since then our relationship has changed with countries like Russia and the internet has made such efforts easier and more effective.

We don't know but I suspect, not much.
I feel that what we are seeing is fomented domestically by those who crave power and can't get it through normal means.

I would say disinformation etc on the web comes mainly from foreign activity.

My firm belief is that we are experiencing the most organized, well funded, embedded and threatening Active Measures campaign in the history of the world. Not only from foreign actors, but from domestic threats (more so) whose goal is the dismantling of the foundation of our Constitutional Republican system of governance. This is not about political differences, this is about, and I don't like to say it, moving towards a pseudo-Marxist revolution. I don't say this lightly, and have thought long and hard about the "conspiracy theory" angle. Who's behind it isn't clear, nor does it matter for analysis, efforts are increasing to drive wedges in between every small crack between our citizens, fomenting hate and divisiveness, now escalating violence. I wish I could just dismiss the whole feeling I now have. Two months before Ferguson, I was joking with my group that "Every once in a while, I'm smelling tear gas in the breeze", then, BAM. The first riots in, how long?
I invite you to think about the video in the link below. Seriously, commit 1/2 an hour and watch it if you have any doubt about what I'm saying. I certainly don't agree 100% with it, but it is just a fairly concise synopsis that briefs SOME of my thoughts. I've been watching this unfold since I saw a couple interviews with warnings from Yuri Bezmenov back in the 1980s (If you haven't watched those, I recommend them). Honestly, I didn't just watch this video and say "Yep, that's it!"
I'll repeat myself, I don't say this lightly, but sadly, IMHO, we are under full-scale political warfare from all angles, DC is patently corrupted. I truly hope somebody can come on here and convince me otherwise, I'm all ears...
