HOW much do you rely on your fellow Vet

We all know that we have fun ribbing each other. When we retire, we all become a fellow Vet. I deal with my PTSD by surrounding myself with active and Vets alike. It helps me when we talk and share memories.

How many of you out there rely on other Vets?

Unfortunately, in my current geographic location, not at all. That was part of my motivation to join this forum, to seek help. I find people complain about a lot of stupid things, not much true interaction. I work in the same building I retired from and feel very much like an outsider.

I have tried the local VSOs, ABSOLUTELY no luck there...

The vet community here on RP gives me no end of amusement and stimulating discussions. Other than that I am pretty much a homebody and don't advertise I am a vet. Very few people unless they know me well have any idea I was in the Army let alone ever deployed.

I relied on vets when I needed help with my disability claims. Now other vets rely on me more...

Rely......When i first retired i went to my local VA rep for assistance, he talked a good game but that was it, went to county rep, thay treated my like i was from another planet. So i can rely on myself. Now friends, my best friend is a Vet (we served together), i seem to gravitate to vets for friends (most times unconsciously). I am a member of the VFW but i swear thier a breed apart.

Having just gotten out and still working on getting myself set up, I've found that the veterans in the area are quite happy to talk with someone new. I tend to find them while I'm out and about. I find them a comfort.

I rely on my brothers and sisters to keep my morale up and to let them know I am there for them.
