As a tanker pilot and then VIP/SAM pilot, quite a bit. Mindanao in southern Philippines, and Morocco in N Africa were a couple of those exciting/scary places you never forget.

When I was stationed at Ft Irwin, when I wasn't on base I was in San Diego, Vegas, or Mexicali. While in Germany, I went to many a different country.

For work I traveled a decent amount for deployments or training:
Arabian/Persian Gulf cruises with visits to Dubai, Rhodes, Naples, Marseille
Deployment to Iwakuni Japan
Western Pacific deployment from Guam to include stops in Republic of Korea (Seoul and Gwanyang), Japan (Sasebo), Subic Bay in The Philippines, Gladstone Australia
Training deployment to Brunei that resulted in some time spent in Singapore after being medivacced
Other training related trips to South Korea and a whole bunch of states.

Places I traveled for pleasure while in the military:
Mexico, Jamaica, Canada, Bahamas, Japan, The Philippines, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cambodia, Saipan, Chuuk (Truk), Palau

If I had been smarter in my life with mileage programs I could be close to lifetime status with a carrier, but instead I have a smattering of miles all over the place. Although my biggest travel years are behind me I still hope to see a lot of places I haven't had the opportunity to yet.

My early years in the Navy was shipboard duty and we spent 10-months on average away from our homeport each year. Traveled way to much if you ask the family. Traveled all up/down eastern seaboard of the US, the Med, North Atlantic, Caribbean and more. My Seabee years was west coast with several deployments as well with my favorite to Barking Sands, my first experience with Hawaii and the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. My Air Force days were more settled in when I became a medic (new career field), fewer times away from home which the family appreciated very much…I think they especially enjoyed the Air Force life when compared to Navy life. My PHS service has been the most interesting and challenging in my career, many deployments (all compass points) but less time away when compared to my Navy and Air Force days. All in all, I have had the opportunity to see a lot of this world; some good places some not so. I quit counting countries after visiting 49 countries many years ago. When I retire from AD in 2+ years there are many places I desire to see within the US, and certainly will visit friends and family that live OCONUS. I am thankful my family has had the opportunity to share some of these travels, I believe it helped shape their pride of being an American, and realize how lucky they are to live in the US and have the freedoms they have today. As for me, I have a second family with my Navy-Air Force-PHS buddies who live all across the globe….time stands still and our friendships are stronger than ever.

All over the world. Okinawa, Japan. Pohang, Korea. Shannon, Ireland. Doha, Qatar. Doha, Kuwait. Al Kut, Irag. Fallujah, Iraq. Habbaniyah, Iraq. Baghdad, Iraq. Horvat Shiva, Israel Suda Bay, Greece. Corfu, Greece. Trieste, Italy. Genoa, Italy. Fflorence, Italy. Pisa, Italy. Corfu, Greece. Palma De Mallorca, Spain. Rota, Spain. Toulon, France. Tunisia, parts unknown.
These are places I never would have been able to visit on my own. The Navy traveling with the Fleet Marine Force make for world class travel agents. Whenever I get thanked for my service, I thank them for being a top notch travel agent.

I mostly flew everywhere. I lived on the East coast and spent all of my time stationed on the West Coast and overseas.

I traveled alot during my first enlistment in the Marine Corps. I was stationed in Camp Pendleton, CA...Okinawa Japan...Iraq...New River Air Station in Jacksonville, NC...Chicopee, MA...Latham, NY

Wow, I just wrote a post about some of my travels - and the Army was responsible (in no particular order) for all of these Countries, States, and Islands: Germany, France, Italy, England, Norway, Denmark, Sweden,Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland,Ireland, Finland, Spain, New Zealand, and Australia. Then there were the States: Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Hawaii, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Hawaii. The the Islands: Hawaii again (five islands), Johnston Atoll and the surrounding little places. The Marshall Islands, but luckily I didn't have to do the Cleanup on Enewetak. Kwajalein was the "HQ" for the volunteers...1977 to 1980...I think.
I had some college and didn't want to mess with radiation...and from the stories I have heard...I lucked out by not going to do the Clean Up.
And a couple of Aleutian Islands up in the Bering Sea...to prove to the Russians we could attack in cold weather in the middle of nowhere. LOL
There aren't many Camps or Forts I didn't get a few days TDY too...but some I would have loved to see - and never did- FT. Huachuka in AZ, and FT Eustis in VA, I heard those were pretty Forts. Camp Grayling, Camp Perry, Ft Riley, Ft Fisher, and most of the Infantry Forts in the USA I have either visited or been stationed there. Yep, the Army moves you around!

I was a poor E3 most of my time at MCAS New River. Flying was expensive so I was limited to the weekend boundaries. I flew home a few times, but I had to save for months before I could.

Did most of my travelling on AD when I was stationed in Italy. Venice, Naples, Pisa, Rome, and Florence were the main places in Italy I went to. Also travelled around Europe in general whenever we had the chance. So far I've been to over 15 countries.
