With all the moves and kids and working full time, that was a challenge, but she did it. It made her more marketable, and I'm pretty sure it made her feel better about herself. As I was achieving things in the military and continuing my education, it was easy to forget that my wife had aspirations too. Education was a great way to at least begin to fulfill them. My wife's degree definitely helped her when it came time for her to look for better jobs.

Nowadays I think there are ways for spouses to get educational benefits, which is just plain fantastic. The author says that her "degree would open up countless doors for [her] later in life" and that's true for most. She completed her BS degree and then went on to get her masters in elementary education. While doing this she also was the FRG leader for the units I have been in and always opened herself up to the military spouses. She has been my backbone and I know I could not or would not be where I am now without her love and support. By the way, she also has been raising 3 kids and has a full time job. Great subject sir. I don't think military spouses always get the recognition they deserve.
