How many of you received this OPM letter? My wife and I both received one and she's not active duty.

If you received one and don't mind saying so, please chime in with what you do (AD,NG,GS,NaF ect) and which state you're in. I'm curious to know if there's a common denominator here. Me: AD Army in WA. Wife: DoD Contracting.

Wife got one, she a civilian nurse not associated with gov't at all and I retired from AF Reserves in July 2015. Weird

I got one, and have been out for 13~ years. Dept of VA.

The Common thread is that hackers have been attacking any and all Government sites, whether OPM, VA, DoD, National Archives, etc. Anything that has our Name, DOB, SSN. It's all an "exploitable resource." Just like Sony & Microsoft were exploitable and easy targets.

Pretty much anybody who has ever applied for a security clearance of any kind got one as well as their listed family members and contacts. So no need for a poll. I think the data affected 19+ million people.

Your wife would have gotten it anyway, but looks like she's double hacked as both your wife and as a contractor.

It is legit in response to the 20 million records stolen from OPM computers containing files of of SM, V, R, Contractors, and everyone's spouses and children. My entire family of four got one each. we established basic accounts and are now notified when something does not pass the smell test. However, we decided to not list all our banking accounts because "who watches the watcher?" Somewhat unlikely but what if they suffer security intrusion? Recommend you establish this free for three years monitoring service.

You both likely got it because of the breach of clearance background check files. One of your had your clearance done within the last several years, and the other was listed on it as a spouse.

SSG Private RallyPoint Member I got mine, and would absolutely recommend following the instructions. 3 Years of ID monitoring is great and all but I suspect that the identity thieves to whom these identities were sold or will be sold (by the military hackers interested only in the espionage implications, but willing to make some cash on the deep web) will just wait out the 3 years before exploiting the data....so be vigilant even past the 3 year threshold!

The common denominator is your name appeared on an sf-86 between 2000 and 2015. That's it.

Yeah i got one too a couple weeks ago. I havent subscribed yet because i thougth it was fake, but now that i see many people have gotten it too i'll give it a shot.

I got two, one for me And one for my spouse. My beef is that this breach is soooooo underreported., they have only accounted for fingerprints and forms from the 22.1 million sf-86's that were stolen. They do not account for all the people named on your form. I had 14 on my last firm, have submitted multiple over last 38 years, if you only factor 5 persons on each form you have 110,000,000 persons affected.
