How many of you have filed a VA disability claim and became totally frustrated with the entire process and waiting time?

Th VA claims process definitely can be very much frustrating. However a denial does end end it for you. Get your documents together and file an appeal. I know there are a lot of horror stories out there unfortunately, however I'll say they have made some improvements in some of the wait times depending on what the claim is for.

SSgt Harvey "Skip" Porter I would like MSgt Danny Hope to pile on here if he can/will. I CANNOT stress HARD ENOUGH the importance of getting your service organizations involved! The DAV stewarded my claim through from start to finish and it was efficient, fair and complete. I received an 80% rating and the first words out of my DAV reps mouth were: they disallowed two items, do you want to appeal? I replied that I expected them to be rejected (mad cow because the red cross wont take my blood and my ankle from a severe sprain on a deployment) and I was completely satisfied with the judgement. I am a life member of the DAV because of their effective processes. You can also use the VFW, or any other service org that you can find.

I actually had a good run with it. I filed a claim, got a rating in a very timely manner, and cant really complain about the ratings. One was lower than I suspected, lower back pain, and one was rated higher than I would have expected.
I didnt have anyone help me with it other than the guy that helps you outprocess the Army and I didnt have to comb through med records, as I pretty much knew the few things I was going to claim - I didnt go to the doc much.
I do worry....I've heard that if I am not continually seeking treatment, i.e., bitching about it, that they will assume it is no longer a problem and drop my rating.

I claimed through out the years, and always rejected because the VA said, "You don't have a record of ever going to sick call." In the 82nd early 70's you never went on sick call, or you'll be black listed as a Malingerer and given extra duty, and they always said, "Take two aspirin and drive it on troop."
Anyway, I got 10 percent last year August for hearing lost, after waiting for the past 40+ years, maybe because of Trump being elected.
To bad my brother a Vietnam veteran 101st, who has died a few years ago, never received anything waiting all those years getting rejected too, he had many a problems that needed to be taken care of. Picture is of brother in the 82nd before going to Vietnam in 1965/66.

The concurrent receipt rules are insulting, I don't know anyone else who actively pays their own disability. This is the worst rule/ law regarding retired Service Members I have heard of.

The VA in New Mexico lost my application twice and then told me to re-apply again. I moved East and the Philly region processed it quickly,

When I retired in ‘99 I was rated at 90%. I did not do anything for 17 years and then finally hard to face PTSD & TBI. I filed and was awarded 100%. Most of the difficulty comes with self-inflicted anxiety.
