BAH is for housing, separate rats is for food. 2, They are suppose to TRY to feed 3 meals per day. We got that in garrison, in training, we learned to tighten our belts.Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Jun 10 at 2020 11:30 PM2020-06-10T23:30:44-04:002020-06-10T23:30:44-04:00SGT Justin Brothen5992591

Ask and they will give you 3 mres a dayResponse by SGT Justin Brothen made Jun 10 at 2020 11:40 PM2020-06-10T23:40:16-04:002020-06-10T23:40:16-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member5992721

You're talking apples and oranges here. BAH is for housing. For food, if you are not receiving separate rations pay and are a meal card holder, then you eat in the DFAC and consume the food provided free of charge. 3 meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. That is the garrison way. In the field, if there is an MKT present, then you (usually) get two hots for breakfast and dinner and an MRE for lunch.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 11 at 2020 12:49 AM2020-06-11T00:49:51-04:002020-06-11T00:49:51-04:00SGM Erik Marquez5993201

SPC Private RallyPoint Member BAH is Basic Allowance for housing... so not applicable to your question.
Separate Rations is what is paid to service members authorized to mess separately ...IOW ion their onew, pay, time and schedule.
As for how many meals its three, that can be 3 in a DFAC, or 1 in DFAC, 1 MRE, one Hot A ration in the field, or 3 MRE, or any other combination of three meals provided to you. The requirement is nutrition and calorie count to keep the body going, the goal is palatable food, but the 1st one is the only requirement
.Response by SGM Erik Marquez made Jun 11 at 2020 5:47 AM2020-06-11T05:47:52-04:002020-06-11T05:47:52-04:00Sgt Kelli Mays5995290

SPC Private RallyPoint Member BAH is for housing and other expenses. The army does not provide meals for troops....they make them available though. If you are not receiving access or are not afforded the opportunity to receive 3 meals per day (in garrason), then speak with your NCO. This doesn't apply during special schooling and training exercises where lack of meals is written into the training plan.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 17 at 2020 9:26 AM2020-06-17T09:26:42-04:002020-06-17T09:26:42-04:002020-06-10T23:08:19-04:00
