How many college Credits are earned for finishing AIT as a 68C?

Some context: I’m 28 years of age with 80 credits (2.3 GPA) towards a biology degree. Have a lot of science and math done.

Just enlisted as a 68C. I have two questions. What are the chances I finish my degree during my contract? Does any of the AIT training count for substantial college credit?

Just trying to figure out my best route as I don’t think I’ll qualify for any of those special programs (aecp, ipap) due to my gpa and age. Thank you!

It depends on the school you go to, mine accepted 50 credits, but since I’m a biology major they were all elective credits and that’s the only portion of my degree that was satisfied. If it were nursing I know most places will accept Anatomy and Physiology, possibly microbiology. I also got 24 credits all online and knocked out most of my basics at a community college while in the program.

I got credit for my first year of nursing school when I started my RN program, simply because I was an LPN. As far as everything else, I got nothing. No A&P, no pharmacology, nothing. Any additional questions, feel free to message me. Happy to help out. Are you going active or reserve?

There is no credit for 68C. If you go to a school that specifically accepts ACE recommendations for credit, then within your specific degree program your college may grant you some credits, if they so choose.

As for your degree program, you can definitely finish 40 credits in a few years. AMEDD accepts lots of age waivers, but your GPA is not at all competitive for any of those programs.

If I may suggest, don’t focus so much as to how many credits you may or may not get for completing your AIT training as those could be elective credits, depending on the University. I recommend you focus on raising your grade point average and completing your program your stated. A low GPA can prevent you from applying to graduate level education. If you are staying in the medical field, you may consider completing more than just a BS to stay competitive with your peers.

If you ask for a copy of your training record and bring it to the colloge, you'll be able to get a better idea of what they will accept for credits.

It truly depends on the school. After you have completed AIT, send your school a copy of your Joint Service Transcript (JST) from https://jst.doded.mil/jst/ and they will review it. At my school, all of my elective credits plus my A&P was transferred from the JST. Hope this helps! Good luck!

You get some credit towards nursing school but you have to look at the school. Problem 1 at my college I get credit for A&P 1 & Micro l but not credit for labs and Nursing 1 which is just your first semester. So you really don't get much. While you are in go check out the ED center. If I remember I got more credit for 68W then 68C.

To answer the question in your post directly, there's a great chance you'll finish your degree. You get lots of TA (tuition assistance) every year and if you budget your time well, you can safely take about 2 classes at a time. I always stuck to 1 just to not run myself ragged. But I've earned both an AA and a BA a few months ago, with plans to start on some sort of master's in a few months. But yeah, the AIT won't be worth a whole lot since you're already so far into your current degree.

Some schools are more military friendly vs others, but Biology programs are generally very picky as to what they consider as "core science courses", so doubt they would accept ACE biologies or chemistries as non-electives. Nursing schools have LVN to RN bridges, but you need to complete the associates degree. I am not sure what programs you are considering, but there are some Heath Administration and Public Health Programs that will allow you to count up-to 30 related health courses. Some schools offer a BAAS degrees that factor in around 44 hours of job experience. That may be the best option to get a credited Bachelors degree quickly, just not sure how much those degrees help jobwise.
