It is usual to take this long for a recheck? How long should it take to get a reinvestigation done on my secret clearance. I have had it 10 years needed it renewed.2016-07-07T01:14:16-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1695357<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I submitted it 3 months ago and have not heard anything back yet. That's for a TS though, so your probably looking at 8-10 months. The person who would have the best answer would be your unit's S2 or your local SSO.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 7 at 2016 3:37 AM2016-07-07T03:37:59-04:002016-07-07T03:37:59-04:00MSgt Private RallyPoint Member1695493<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your Unit Security Manager should be able to help you (I suppose your S-2?) When I needed my Secret Clearance renewed I think it took about 6 months (but there may have been a government shutdown during that time too). Hope this helps.Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 7 at 2016 4:07 AM2016-07-07T04:07:47-04:002016-07-07T04:07:47-04:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member1695678<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Remember what's happened in the last few years: OPM's e-Qip application was hacked, OPM contended with significant fraud in the investigations conducted by its own investigators (who are actually contracted out), and they missed some of the highest-profile individuals who had rampant warning signs (e.g. the Washington Navy Yard shooter).<br /><br />All of this has let to a significant delay, as old investigations need to be reviewed and sometimes redone entirely, and a near-total stop of all investigations (like what happened for several months following the hack) just lets the backlog pile higher.<br /><br />FWIW, I'm in a similar boat. I resubmitted my latest round 4 months ago, and it hasn't even been assigned an investigator according to the SSO (on my military side) and FSO (on my contractor side), and since mine is a TS review that requires more in-depth investigation including multiple interviews, that means I have quite a ways to go.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 7 at 2016 8:02 AM2016-07-07T08:02:42-04:002016-07-07T08:02:42-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1709856<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>you can actually help yourself out with the investigation. When giving your references, try and see of you can provide names of individuals that may live in the same area. When I was up for my last clearance, most of the people that I gave were stationed at the same place, and the others were actually those that I worked with within the same building. So when one person was done with the investigator, the other went right in. The investigators have to try and talk to all of the people that you list, as well as other people that may come up during the course of the investigation. The more accurate the info you give, the faster you investigation will get completed.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2016 12:47 PM2016-07-12T12:47:35-04:002016-07-12T12:47:35-04:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member4675278<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>“Forever” plus a lotResponse by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made May 28 at 2019 10:59 AM2019-05-28T10:59:08-04:002019-05-28T10:59:08-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4735390<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There is a giant back log at the investigation department. If it is required speak to your PERSEC Manager about getting interm clearance, if not wait it out. S2 cannot do anything at the investigation level.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 19 at 2019 2:00 PM2019-06-19T14:00:18-04:002019-06-19T14:00:18-04:002016-07-07T01:14:16-04:00
