How long should it take for BAH to be processed and restarted? Will it be retroactive to when it erroneously stopped?

My Husband is newly commissioned 2LT (previously active duty enlisted E-5 went Green to Gold) and is in BOLC for 3 months in Fort Gordon.

We have a 10 month old and I am living in CA til he is finished.
BAH stopped after he commissioned 7 MAY

When he reported to BOLC he asked Student S1 why it stopped if he has a wife and kid to still support?

They told him to resubmit our marriage cert along with other documents and he should receive BAH in the following pay period…

Student S1 confirmed everything was submitted JUN 17th

Still haven’t received BAH and it’s JUL 15

Question:

Do we get back pay from the time they stoped it in May? Or from the time documents where submitted? Do we need to submit a form for back pay or does it happen automatically?

When is BAH expected to come? I’m previous active duty as well just got out not even a year ago but never experienced this. Thanks for the help

He will get back pay. I don't know when it will come.

It should not take longer than a month to get BAH started. It's my opinion S1 or Finance has dropped the ball.

His BAH should have never stopped! The question is, did he do an admin check after he graduated from OCS? I highly recommend that he request help from his advisor. He/she is obligated (in my opinion) to ensure that your husband is taken care of. As for back pay, I am not sure if he would automatically get back paid. He would have to do a little work to recup monies lost. Thank you for supporting one of the future leaders of our beloved Armed Forces.

DA Form 5960 - make sure both you and your child are on the form. Provide Marriage/Birth Cert. You should get back pay from the date it stopped, because it shouldn’t have stopped. If he doesn’t receive it, he can submit a Da Form 2142 through S1, it’s a pay inquiry and finance will be able to tell you what’s going. How long it takes is totally up to his finance battalion.

Student S-1? Tell him he needs to get over to Finance in person with all his documentation and get that stuff squared away. He should have been directed to go to Finance on in processing.
Yes, if you were due BAH in May, you will get back pay.
I've had bad experiences with TRADOC cadre in the past, so I make sure I know who to go to direct to fix problems. Your husband is an Officer now, he will be expected to be able to direct his people to the right source to fix a problem. He needs to learn who to go to to fix his own.
