Referred to the selecting official status means they haven't processed an offer/acceptance yet or if they did, they didn't update the status. Also consider the jump into the next fiscal year. There can be staffing caps, billet funding, and other stuff going on. The selecting official's wife could be in the hospital; who knows? Saw a comment re: security clearance. If you had one on the MIL side, that gets tossed and you have to apply for one with the new agency. Your clearance history does make a difference in how fast the new one may be processed. That is done after hiring as nobody does the drill on a candidate. We did have folk who we hired and had to place on alternate duties only to get the clearance denied. They were gone by the end of the pay period. CAPT Kevin B. Although there will always be federal jobs, it may take longer foe some as a new administration will be taking over Jan 20, 2017 and there may be cut backs or new jobs added. I was referred to the selecting official numerous times and would never hear anything. Within the agency I work it is usually within 30-45 days that interviews are conducted and a selection is made. You might want to contact the agency's human resource office to request a status update. I submitted a resume and started less than a month later. I quit after reaching the highest level I could there. Got accounting experience, finished my masters and applied for a revenue agent. It took from the posting close in late may to July to interview and august to get the offer for a start in September. I applied for a job with fiscal services and from date of app to offer was about three months as well.
