It was the 24th ID then and I was with the 3rd engineers. If you have an allergy to something in the shots youll make them aware when you get there. Reception is a cake walk. Youll make a 30 second phone call when you get there, then phones go away. Depending on the time you arrive youll get chow, barracks, &amp; go to sleep. Next morning youll start getting stuff issued to you, haircuts, shots, etc. Just take it day by day. I havent been there in over 2 years but im sure not much had changed. Some people spend over a week there. <br />Just do what you gotta do. <br /><br />Shots will be whatever your shot record says you&#39;ve got to get. If it&#39;s not on your record, and there isnt a documented allergy to it, you&#39;re going to get it. <br /><br />Typically reception just consists of an expedited in processing for medical, dental, and administrative/paperwork wise. <br />You will also go through an initial clothing/equipment issue while in reception. <br /><br />Honestly it&#39;s not bad. Basically you are there until a class fills. There are people right now that have been waiting upwards of 2-3 months. This is not the norm but it does happen. My own reception was 5 days. <br /><br />As to shots? You get quite a few but they are quick and compressed. You are lined up and you roll both sleeves up and you get like 3-4 series all with a compressed air gun. It was not bad really. Over before you realize it. <br /><br />You&#39;ll get your first allotment of pay, your first haircut, and your uniform allotment. Then get marched to the PX or shopette for things you might not have like detergent, shampoo, soap etc. <br /><br />Time goes by quick as you are given an initial physical evaluation, a quick medical and dental and then your dog tags and are started on your path to learning ranks, alpha numerics and general orders. <br /><br />Before you know it you are formed up and marching off to you BCT company. Just swiped the ink stamps and copied the signatures from a buddie&#39;s card or just disappeared.. later on when computers took charge... I would show my card and be perplexed the info wasn&#39;t already downloaded. Got out in 2004. The Antrax series was easy to avoid... No one I knew got all the shots...
