How long is a promotable status good for?

Until such time as you get promoted or do something stupid so as to the P status getting yanked. But, you should become familiar....very familiar...with AR 600-8-19

Until you get promoted or in trouble (ucmj, investigation, etc)

I made E6 in 1965 I am still listed as promotable

Until you make cut off or get into trouble and at that time it get removed for junior enlisted but as for senior enlisted, there’s no more promotable status as you’re placed on an Order of Merit (OML) now which changes annually if not promoted by the next board.
