How long did it take to get shipped off for special warfare?

I just talked to my Air Force recruiter today and he said it takes months to a year after the commander approves to ship me off to school. I suppose the higher up’s are supposed to give me a set date for school and all that jazz. I’m just curious to know what anyones response to that is and what to expect if I do decide to move forward on this?

I attempted to go into Special Tactics in the AF. I was going to CCT. I passed everything but I couldn't get a waiver for my PRK eye surgery. I would warn you that they have an extremely high wash out rate. When it comes to prior service, they will look at your experience as a means to evaluate you. When you have a CIB, EIB, wings, or a Ranger Tab, it will move you up on the list. I am sure you can see that I ended up back in the Army. They take so few and it takes a long time. I would expect to wait a while. You can also look at Army SF. But if you are in a Combat MOS then they may just pass you over if overs with combat training compete for the slot.

I’m sure a cav scout with no tabs nor a combat patch would suffice, I appreciate it sir.

PRK is approved just has to be one year after the procedure, and pre- and post-conditions must be met.

Make sure you talk to an AFSPECWAR recruiter not a regular recruiter. That way you will get the best information. The last I knew, prior and non-prior service applicants could not sign up for an individual job in Special Warfare. Instead, you sign up for Special Warfare Operator Enlistment (aka SWOE) and then compete for the specific job that you desire.
