Both Schofield and wheeler are excellent posts to be at you will be in the middle of the island between north shore and Honolulu. Enjoy it!Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 10 at 2016 12:22 PM2016-02-10T12:22:39-05:002016-02-10T12:22:39-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1292963<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Lived on wheeler. Any type of a aviation unit (if that's where you're going to) is gonna be awesome man only major complaints is only two ways in and out of that side of post so expect possible traffic with getting on and off postResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 10 at 2016 12:26 PM2016-02-10T12:26:19-05:002016-02-10T12:26:19-05:00CMSgt Mark Schubert1292975<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There's no such thing as a "bad" place in Hawaii! :-)Response by CMSgt Mark Schubert made Feb 10 at 2016 12:31 PM2016-02-10T12:31:41-05:002016-02-10T12:31:41-05:00SPC James Dollins1293016<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I haven't been, BUT... Wheeler is really solid, plus you're in Hawaii and a short 10 min drive from the beautiful north shore, as well as a 20 min drive from Honolulu/Waikiki (in no traffic). Wheeler isn't the most up to date post facilities wise, but there are so many upsides to being there.Response by CPT Aaron Kletzing made Feb 10 at 2016 12:54 PM2016-02-10T12:54:12-05:002016-02-10T12:54:12-05:00CPT Aaron Kletzing1293355<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Wheeler is right next to Schofield which has very nice amenities -- PX, Commissary, leisure stuff, etc. So you would just use those. Housing is really nice as well. Can't speak for the barracks as I was married at the time so I lived in on-base housing. Newer housing was being put in on both the Wheeler and Schofield sides. North shore is not to far away and traffic isn't bad. Most of the facilities are on the Schofield side. There is a gym and small shoppette though. Wahiawa is a typical town you find close to posts, but does have some good places to eat. There is good hiking close by - just watch out for pigs and don't get lost. Driving down to Waikiki on a Friday or Saturday night will take about 45-60 min. depending on the traffic (and there's always traffic). Overall good place, but just like any place, you have to get off post.Response by SMSgt Todd Grebel made Feb 12 at 2016 10:34 AM2016-02-12T10:34:09-05:002016-02-12T10:34:09-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member1299865<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have been here 2 weeks and it so far is not that bad I mean it is HawaiiResponse by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 13 at 2016 11:23 AM2016-02-13T11:23:02-05:002016-02-13T11:23:02-05:00SPC Christopher Perrien1300731<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It is Hawaii, and you are there on the cheap.
