Duncan Hunter writing to Defense Secretary Ash Carter challenging the decision. <br /><br />The Army has lost its moral compass here. Even if Martland struck the Afghan as is alleged he is not the first soldier to strike a civilian even in a foreign location let alone a theater of war. The Army brings discredit and shame on itself when it fails to recognize "right" for political expediency. There are many things a soldier can do wrong anytime or place but this is clearly not one of them. The entire Rally Point Community, Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen - active, reserve and retired needs to get behind this wrong decision and assist this soldier regain his career in the United States Army.
