It's what you make of it. Don't blow your money at Sharkys, use a condom, dont buy whores, be safe wherever you go. Fayetteville isn't the greatest of towns but just be smart an talk to guys that have been there for a little bit. I can guess and say you're gonna wana be there 0445 being brand new, PT, SSS, chow, 0900-0930 be back and do your day to day. Can't fully say what the 68Ws, I was 11B, do on regular boring garrison days but you'll be a medic at a range, DZ, field problems, ect. You could have a guy here say he hates and then have one that says he loves it. I liked Bragg when I was there. I think it is one of the better duty stations in the Army. But I would just go there with an open mind. As far as the 82nd CAB which I am currently in, all I ever see the medics do is sit at the AID station help soldiers that come in as well as help the PA. Sorry I have never been in during Sick Call but from what I heard by other NCOs it's busy during sick call hours. Now, he was kidding a bit, but his point was that we always think the grass is greener someplace else. I am here to tell you that you determine how good an assignment is. Make the most of it, learn and HAVE FUN.
Your day in the 82nd will be very much like a day in the rest of the Army. You will get up, do PT, conduct personal hygiene and then conduct the day's training. Training will be varied dependent on where you are in the GRF cycle and can be anything from 350-1 type classroom training to field exercises.
Expect to be challenged physically and mentally while assigned to the 82nd.
The duty day will USUALLY end around 1700 hours and your time is then yours. I would suggest you use it by working out and taking a college class. Always seek to improve yourself. I was stationed there from 1999-2001. I can only imagine the improvements that have been made. It's all Airborne there, which is nice. ATW!!! But don't let that fool you. I have a buddy that's a 1SG over there and they're always either in "the field" or away for training. Like the CSM commented here, hit the gym and take college courses.
