If this site can not allow grown educated adults with years of actual experience to post and then talk back and forth with each other in a civil manner and educate others with posts and comments, then why post at all. to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. so in this post, I ask. Why Are So Many Americans in Prison? The U.S. does have a very large prison population—not because too many innocent people are incarcerated, but because too many people commit serious—usually violent—crimes. With rare exceptions, that’s why most people are imprisoned in America. Period. The person stated things about me stemming entirely from his imagination. It was so bad, I stopped entering information on my profile page. I didn't report it or anything like that, but my guess is others have undergone similar insults and fired back anyway they could. So, most likely the administrators act fast if they suspect a problem arising; sometimes a little premature. Let’s examine the penal system. Penal is taken from “penance”. This is for restitution of sins committed. Penance was done, not in a penitentiary but at a religious institution ran by religious people committed to God. They usually worked, prayed helped the religious; some joined the ranks of the religious. Many penitents returned to their previous life, common to today’s world. Some repeated their ways, some didn’t. Without a guiding light, there is only darkness. I can go even deeper into our current system. Removing cultures that don’t parallel current laws opens new frontiers for exploitation. Ethnic Hawaiian population is 24%, yet 39% of the prison population; for example. I can go on, ad nauseam.
