How is it possible to defeat Islamic terrorism when they have attitudes and beliefs like this woman espouses?

Disclaimer: The following comments are not mine. They were sent to me by someone who forwarded the attached video. It is offered for discussion.

Watch this a minute or so and tell me if you see why we are not winning the war against Islamic terrorism. As long as we negotiate with them, and even fight them as if they have the same morals, we have we will never be able to win. You cannot respect Islam or their views and treat them as equal adversaries; we must simply kill them, all of them, in order to win and be done with them. President Thomas Jefferson had the right idea about how to deal with them in his day, and the funny thing is, their weapons have evolved and improved and so forth, but their morals and ideals are the same Stone Age stupidity that we faced way back in Jefferson’s day. If a mother wants to send her young son off to commit suicide while hopefully killing Christians and Jews, or anyone other than her preferred form of Islam, then these mothers are not someone we can or should treat as equals, or offer normal respect for. The Shiites in Persia invented suicide war tactics and the taking of hostages in battle, not prisoners of war but hostages held for ransom. We aren't dealing with them properly yet, and never will until we understand them in the basic sense. As long as the American president, whoever holds the office, will stress that we are not at war with Islam, we will have no peace, it is not possible. We have to declare war and fight to win that way, no matter what it takes.

You can't fight an ideal with bombs and bullets.
For everyone one of them we kill 5 more take their place. I'm not sure how to fight them, but traditional warfighting will only make more enemies.

COL Jean (John) F. B. What is it's origin of this tape? We will not deal with them properly until we understand the inner workings and cultural background that makes them what they are. The problem is these people have nothing to look forward to in this life and culturally they are told from a early age that being a Martyr is a positive thing. There is no government for them to have faith in, no community ties to strengthen them, no economic value in building a business..., they have only Religion to cling to and it becomes more perverted by the day. What they are not saying is that their family received payment for the Martyrdom of their family member. The family becomes more of celebrities i.e. their status is increased for every Martyr they have. Many times the Martyrs are coming from the poorest regions because the family is then paid and food is given to them.

The author is grouping as a mass a particular religion, and suddenly becomes judge, jury, and executioner. That is not an ideal that should be held as an American. Defend yourself yes. Go after someone because their views are different than yours? No. Then what separates us from them? I don't group all Catholics as pedophiles because a few of their priests are. Not all Christians are like Westborough Baptist, and damn sure not all Muslims are of the same train of thought as the militants are.
Change will come when we try to effectively change the ideology. When we accept their beliefs as their own, and not based off western standards we'll get somewhere. Maybe if we stopped getting into everyone's business over there and make them solve their own issues like we would do our kids here, maybe they'll learn something for themselves and Darwin will sleep soundly knowing he was right. You could drop a nuke on them and guess what; the ideology would still survive, the situation would be made much worse, and we'd still be in the same situation of rebuilding in about 1000 years or when Walmart wants to open up a desert chain.

Don't be fooled. She was paid handsomely for her participation in this video.
It is a common tactic for Hamas. If they didn't celebrate their culture of death and back it up with economic windfalls to family members, they would have run out of willing suicide bombers long ago. It is BS, aimed at a very specific, vulnerable segment of the Pallistinian people.
Contrast this with Hamas' "governance", in which officials siphon away every penny to fund their own lifestyle while the infrastructure crumbles (or get demolished by Israeli counter-battery fire) and workers often go unpaid. Israel's fault, of course. At least on Pallistinian TV.

This suicide bomber's family was paid very well for what he did. He provided about a year's worth of income for his mom, wife, etc. I have no sympathy for these people. They made their beds - let 'em sleep in it (or blow it up)

Educate the mothers is about the only way this will end. It is an ideology contrary to the Qur'an and is only followed because of the deception. If you cannot read, you believe what you are told by the religious leaders.

Terrorists have leaders who espouse an ideology which is their Center of Gravity. They propose legitimacy of ideology and their actions, and constantly try to grow the cause. This particular "trait" of Islam - the same one that brought Islamic warriors all across North Africa and into Spain - has a 10 century "head start" on our "American Idea".

We are, and ever will be (as a society), completely ignorant of what compels parts of the Islamic society to go to these lengths. In the early 1990s, when i was in college, I saw some of this ... philosophy ... in fellow students and graduate students from the Middle East. At the time, I just figured that they'd "come around" when they saw what America was all about. I was a moron.

As has been mentioned before, you cannot fight an idea. It cannot be killed. It must be destroyed from within.

Unfortunately, without the 1,000 years of practice and indoctrination, it is clear to me that the Idea of America is more at risk of destruction from within than Islam is at risk of the same.

I fear that the fanaticism of radical Islamic culture will outlast us. Hell, we can't even support our own police officers, let alone stand together against an idea that wants the Idea of America burned into the ash heap of history! What chance do we have, really?

Please note that not ONCE did I refer to the religion of Islam. My comments are directed at the culture of radical Islam. I also know that it will not matter to those who still cling to the naive belief that "if we can only make them see that we don't want to harm them, they'll stop trying to kill us."

There is a big difference between defeating radical Islam as an idea and defeating the radical Islamic groups that pose a serious threat to the US homeland and our interest. We don't have to defeat radical Islam, and honestly, we probably cannot because it is an idea -- we have to work with our Arab partners on that, and it may take generations. However, we can, and should, degrade radical Islamic groups that threaten the homeland. Hopefully one day Americans will realize that we're in a generational war, fighting a global insurgency that requires constant pressure. It is an uncomfortable thought, but we can either spend money fighting over there or spend money tightening up the hatches here. Also, once we come to grips with being in an 50 year war maybe we'll develop a strategy that supports persistent conflict.

After reading the posts, I thought I should respond. The issue isn't Islam. The issue is the lack of secular education in the Arab world and the inability or desire of the corrupt Gov'ts to educate their people. My wife is Muslim, but is from Indonesia. Indonesia has the largest Muslim population of any country in the world and they are very peaceful. As a matter of fact, my brother-in-law works as an officer in the Indonesian Navy. He has informed me that if the military spots any ISIS recruitment, execute immediately without restriction. They do not like the radical Islamist because they do not follow the true Muslim belief. So, everyone on the site needs to understand that this situation has nothing to do with religion.

I see this as I saw the Soviet Union. Propoganda and brainwashing fill the populus with hate. They grow up knowing nothing else. It's a plague! Not Islam but extremists. Crazy is crazy. If you kill one you breed more? But if you don't kill that one it has the possibility of killing hundreds! It's like the Nazis, people turned a blind eye even though they knew the atrocities that were being committed. I say we put our foot down and say we are not against Islam we are we are against crime. We will arrest and or kill you no matter what your religion is, as long as your an established threat to the lives of others you will be incarcerated or have your life taken first!
