VA financing can be more expensive both initially and long-term than some other local options depending on the area of the country, the state, or even the city where you want to buy. Don't assume a VA loan is the best for you simply because we're veterans, but find a local REALTOR who can introduce you to a group of local lenders that specialize in exactly what you need. I am a REALTOR in Arkansas, and can't help much outside my local area, but I can assure you that your local real estate agents are kept abreast of just about every change in financing options available.
