How is a fires net supposed to used? should CCA and CAS be on fires net or Command net?

Cas is for your jtac they should have their own freq at cmd or jtac operatior, so the answer is command unless otherwise ordered

Situation depending, how active is the fires net? Are you conducting a JAAT? For me all separate nets unless doing a JAAT, then all the same net just for TOT or TTT of mass fires.

Situation dependent or METT-TC is what i truely believe is the answer. But more often then not fires net should be used. Its not too filled with info unimportant to the task at hand. And everything on fires is useful for airspace management.

SGT Davies, yes METT-TC is always the generalized answer to get around developing a COA and all that. In reality though, for FIRES you will use multiple radio types. Indirect uses LOS, CCA and CAS use Air-Ground Radios, etc. They will all be part of the FIRES Network monitored by the Division FIRES and J3 Current Ops for command and control of the battle space. The DIV FIRES will deconflict airspace, but the J3 will decide who to deconflict for and for what operation at that moment. Your command signal frequency manager will authorize who can use specific frequencies and for what.

JTAC at BN controls CAS, he has his own FREQ. CCA is controlled by BN Fires and assigned to individual teams and their CO fires net out on mission

Eitherway the fires net should always be active sending frontline traces establishing targets giving left and right limits and communicating with all the other FO's in other platoons to ensure everyone is tracking what you see and where all friendlys are and if your at a OP setting up TRP's so the FSO and FSNCO can battle track and you know where all your guns are at all times to ensure they can range the targets because these are things the commander needs to be tracking

Use what net the JTACS us if not available coordinate a net to use with CAS/CCA. Its often to easy.
