How have SMs located and contacted a potential gaining unit (USAR TPU transfer in New England region) outside of using online search engines?

I was wondering how Soldiers here have found contacts to a potential gaining unit, I was able to look up duty positions through Army Career Tracker by MOS, grade, and location but there is no POC and only a UIC so they are difficult to identify the unit. How have SM located and contacted a potential gaining unit outside of using online search engines?

Since working at MEPS, I’ve gone through the service liaisons or recruiters for that information. Took about an hour for them to dig up my next TPU POC.

I think I worded this question differently then I intended. I am actually looking to transfer into a position in my primary MOS as a 68W from a 31B. Im looking to find units that have vacancies for a E7 Medic in the New England Region and willing to travel outside of my HOR state of CT.

Retention NCO should have all contacts to every unit since they have to re-enlist and put soldiers into units. I would find any Retention NCO around your area and contact them. I usually find the information on HRC My portal but sometimes the phone numbers listed with the units are old but usually they work.

I have always had the retention NCOs look it up. They have the ability to pull contact info. The problem is when the information is outdated. Sometimes Units have a Facebook page as well.
