Your MOS Vs. the Accessions Business Rules. If it's not on the list...you can't come back active, only the reserves which probably totally defeats what your trying to do since the 2 are pretty much one in the same (AR & NG) = Part-Time. This is something I've noticed in all branches. Why is it so difficult for a veteran to come back on active duty versus some kid off the street? I.e., why does the military seem to want to take someone with no experience over someone with experience? It would seem that the veteran would be easier and cheaper to train. They wouldn't have to go through boot camp/basic training again, they may still have their uniforms, depending on their new contract they may keep their previous rate/MOS and wouldn't have to retrain in a new one, and the list goes on.

So my question is, can a recruiter explain this logic to me? I'm pretty sure at 11B you are G2G. The local recruiter should be savvy on your state's requirements are for conditional release, as well as your BN PSNCO.

Second, using your CoC, discuss the release process requirements of your organization/state, your eligibility, if any bonus or incentives will be recouped, etc. Your BN Retention NCO/Strength Manager should be spun up on this.

Depending on your motives for returning to AC, have you considered dropping an AGR packet? The best is talk to a recruiter with you DD214 in hand. Another option is the AGR program. You are a full time active duty soldier, one of the handful that keeps everything working. If you are in the right state and get in a good position you can put in your time and probably move up faster. Another option is the Technician program. You wear the uniform but are actually NOT on active duty. I knew a guy who joined joined when he was young and retired as a MSG with 20-30 years and 20+ as a technician. He was in charge of the OMS (maint. shop) He'll get a pension from both and now he's also getting social security. Reductions
in pay grade will NOT be favorably considered, no exceptions.

2. GNPS in pay grades E-1 thru E-4 who have not completed MOS training are
not restricted to the rules. GNPS with 179 days or less of Active Federal
Service (AFS), to include zero days on Active Duty (AD) are considered GNPS.

For example:

a. It seemed almost impossible at first to return to active duty as prior service I was shut down by literally every branch of service more than once. i went as far as traveling to recruiting stations outside of my immediate area to try and get in. the funny thing is it was an Air force recruiter who actually got my foot in the door with the army after he realized he couldnt help me he still took notice in my determination. He made some phone calls and put me in contact with a really helpful Army recruiter who had me at AIT within a month of meeting her. It took me 15 months total to get back in. My advice is be persistant dont take no for an answer and be prepared to do most of the legwork yourself. Dont give up! there will be times where it seems like its hopeless but Im sure if you really want it you can make it happen, just a matter of time the slots are there its just a matter of getting them when they come open.
