How hard is it to get a waiver for unsatisfactory participation? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-hard-is-it-to-get-a-waiver-for-unsatisfactory-participation

So my recruiter just called me and I'm trying to re enlist into the NG, and we just found out I need a waiver to get back in. I'm prior service army reservist and is it even worth the hassle to just get rejected? The reason I got out the first time my wife at the time said it was the army or her and the kids and so well I chose them and quit going to drill, now I'm divorced and re married and my new wife is all for it. I you truly want back in I would wait to see if the waiver gets approved or not. Yes its entirely possible, I put a few back In myself, but you have to convince the commander you're in it for real this time. LORs from influential community members, business owners, and bosses will make a good impact and probably be required. Why would you want to re-enlist in an organization where you don’t go to training/missions? Time to get real. What did you learn from the previous experience. What is different that would stop you from doing the same if wife number 2 changed her mind after a deployment or two? Letters of rec from your direct supervisor where you work and others about your dependability etc would probably be very helpful. Caution, no-one who has never served or been a dependent can ever say (unequivocally) that they understand and can handle it, whatever it is.

While you work your waiver take your bride to meet others who serve and have frank and open discussions on service and the spouses sacrifice.

Thank you for your service. However I say go for it if you are seriously committed to the terms of enlistment. Like other's have stated what happens when the Army say you're deployed? Will the wife be GTG or will she want to bug out? Need to have a serious talk with yourself and your wife about the what if's. SPC David S.
