Been a couch potato and can’t pass APFT. Reserves will probably chapter him out. Can he go to a recruiter and still join RA? If so, how hard is it to get a waiver? How hard is it to get a waiver (can't pass APFT, possible chapter case) to transition from USAR to AD Army?2018-04-06T15:04:48-04:00CW3 Private RallyPoint Member3518309<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Scenario: 4 yrs actuve duty Marines, got out joined USAR, went to college and doesn’t like it, wants to go back on Active Duty RA. But if he is in that bad of shape not sure a recruiter will touch him.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 6 at 2018 3:41 PM2018-04-06T15:41:52-04:002018-04-06T15:41:52-04:00Sgt Private RallyPoint Member3518409<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="1508776" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/1508776-420a-human-resources-technician">CW3 Private RallyPoint Member</a> Ma'am, As a Marine he knows the steps to get back in shape. He needs to get back in shape where he can pass the APFT, and then go to a recruiter. If he refuses to get off the couch and work his tail off, no military career.Response by Sgt Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 6 at 2018 3:56 PM2018-04-06T15:56:36-04:002018-04-06T15:56:36-04:00SGT Joseph Gunderson3521524<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If they cannot meet basic standards, in my experience, the military is not going to go the extra mile (i.e. allowing waivers) for anything. If someone is not able to put forth the min. effort then why should the military put forth an extra effort?Response by SGT Joseph Gunderson made Apr 7 at 2018 2:13 PM2018-04-07T14:13:29-04:002018-04-07T14:13:29-04:00SFC Kelly Fuerhoff3531738<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If he can't pass a APFT he's not getting a waiver and not getting in Army AD. They're kicking out people who are nondelpoyable for 12 consecutive months. <br /><br />If he wants to be active duty he better get back into shape before talking to a recruiter. I would be surprised if there are waivers for APFT failure in the Reserve to go AD. If he's about to get chaptered...I doubt it.Response by SFC Kelly Fuerhoff made Apr 10 at 2018 4:04 PM2018-04-10T16:04:09-04:002018-04-10T16:04:09-04:00SGM Bill Frazer3532020<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>DAMN hard since he can't cut the mustard in the current place.
