How far do you live from post? What is the maximum distance you would be willing to travel to work?

For those of you that live off post, have lived off post or are planning to live off post; what is the maximum distance (miles and/or time) you would be willing to travel (or have traveled) to work?

I personally wouldn’t want to live further than an hour away from post.

Not in anymore but I was very lucky. First unit was Fort Drum, NY and luckily my wife and I got government housing just off north gate. I could walk to my unit if I wished. The NG unit was one I had toyed with in high school. I went there to speak with a recruiter but my intrest fell flat. Instead of getting out, I re-enlisted in the NG for 18 months and got that unit. It is 15 minutes from where I've lived since I moved back home.
Point is......have patience. In NY we had people over an hour away, one way. Make good choices if you do move. If the military is going to be a good part and portion of your life, make distance feasible if you can.

It depends on how much are you willing to sacrifice. I have an acquaintance that live one hour away from Fort Irwin, and while he gets to save some money on rent, he wakes up around 0330 every day. I’d personally say that that is feasible, but anything close to 2 hours wouldn’t be good, think about the nights that you have to work late, or CQ/Staff Duty shifts

By regulations, I could not reside more then 30 minutes outside FBNC.

I'm currently living 1.5 hours from work. Sad part is that it's only 27 miles.

When I was still in the longest commute was 50 miles.
