How early in your Korean tour can you get orders? Do we have any leverage in picking our follow-on duty station stateside?

For anyone that has been to Korea, about how early on to your tour can you get orders and do we have any leverage in picking our follow on duty station stateside? This is my first active duty stint with the Army so not sure how friendly the powers that be are.

Are you on a single tour? If so, you should get PSC orders after your ninth month in country.

I am currently in Korea and most people received their follow on assignment when they were 6 months from PCS/DEROS date. Your assignment manager should be able to help you out. You can ask about your options as to what Duty Stations are available for your MOS and Rank. Just remember that when you call, it will be one late night for you due to the time zone difference.

Contact your Branch talent manager via email. Just volunteer for an assignment to Korea and ask him about the possibility of having a location to return. Most of the time, the BTM will not place on an assignment to return from Korea back to CONUS, until you have completed six months in Korea.

I had an assignment 1 month into my tour, and paper orders 6 months into my tour. I could of went to the Levy brief earlier.

The "Dream Sheet" is about the only leverage you have.
