I was trying to figure out how to go about my promotion to CPT. Since not many people know the unique regulations applicable to AMEDD officers I would like some assistance from the community. I am moving to a unit as a 72D which is an O-2 slot. I heard AMEDD officers can promote one grade above which their PARA and LINE states, is this applicable to me? <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Depends on your State and how many 72Ds you have (or, more importantly, don’t have). In general, AMEDD officers (not 67/70 series) can promote up to 2 above once DA select. Some States limit this to credentialed officers (non-credentialed are considered basic branch). 72 series are somewhere in between, so maybe? Smart States shuffle all officers (not just AMEDD) for UVPs.
