I agree with LT Oakley, the whites, although comfortable as hell, is a little too bland..Response by PO3 Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 11 at 2014 11:13 PM2014-08-11T23:13:01-04:002014-08-11T23:13:01-04:00PO3 David Miller201198<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It is about time we get the zipper for the dress blue trousers. 13 buttons was a pain to deal with. I also like the idea of them adding the piping to the dress whites. It is going to be awhile before the fleet will see the new uniform however. They will start issuing them at RTC in 2015, and will arrive to the fleet from there.<br /><br />Now if they could only figure out a way to keep the dress whites cleaner.Response by PO3 David Miller made Aug 12 at 2014 8:20 AM2014-08-12T08:20:43-04:002014-08-12T08:20:43-04:00MSG Wade Huffman201393<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I, for one, am happy to see that it's not just the Army playing musical uniforms!Response by MSG Wade Huffman made Aug 12 at 2014 12:15 PM2014-08-12T12:15:28-04:002014-08-12T12:15:28-04:00PO1 Michael G.209656<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I actually think that putting a zipper but keeping the look of the 13-button closure seems silly. Before I joined the Navy, I worked in men's fashion, and I have always been of the mind that form follows function with clothing. If the buttons are just going to be for looks, get rid of them entirely. <br /><br />As for the new whites with the piping on the cuffs and the tar flap, I like them a lot. The current white jumper is pretty much the old "undress white" jumper, and has always looked less dressy than a dress uniform really ought to,Response by PO1 Michael G. made Aug 19 at 2014 5:51 PM2014-08-19T17:51:28-04:002014-08-19T17:51:28-04:00PO2 Tony Casler224141<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The whites definitely look better with blue piping, but it is a shame they couldn't find a better material. One change I would really like to see is multiple sizes for the neckerchief, I am 6'4" and the standard neckerchief never looks good because the tails end up being so short. They tend to unroll themselves and stick out more than they hang. A 42" or maybe even 46" neckerchief would be a better fit in proportion to the way the standard 36" fits a shorter Sailor.Response by PO2 Tony Casler made Sep 1 at 2014 12:12 PM2014-09-01T12:12:57-04:002014-09-01T12:12:57-04:00SCPO Private RallyPoint Member231925<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am all about tradition.....Response by SCPO Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 7 at 2014 7:13 PM2014-09-07T19:13:43-04:002014-09-07T19:13:43-04:00PO1 Tracy Dreyer355525<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>13 buttons are no big deal... key word: velcro!!! :-) have the buttons sewn to the flap...Response by PO1 Tracy Dreyer made Dec 4 at 2014 7:04 PM2014-12-04T19:04:34-05:002014-12-04T19:04:34-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member603159<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The Navy keeps changing uniforms even more than the Army! and they have more uniform combinations than any other branch. The only service that has never changed dress uniforms in my lifetime is the USMC! As for the new Navy dress uniform are you referring to the khaki shirt and black trousers. I think its a nice uniform. It actually is a "service" uniform. The E6 and below dress uniform still remains and should stay as the "crackerjack" type uniform. I remember in the 70s they got rid of the crackerjacks but much outcry brought i back by the 80s. Its the sailor traditions. At the same time (around 73) the Coast Guard decided to look more like the Air Force than the Navy as they still do now! Never could figure that one out! Also older Navy vets should remember the undress blues. (crackerjacks without the piping and no neckerchief) I only remember those from my days as Sea Cadet! Those were gone by the end of the 60s!Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 19 at 2015 11:03 PM2015-04-19T23:03:52-04:002015-04-19T23:03:52-04:00PO3 Michael James1030509<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sorry, I prefer the older uniforms.. they held symbolic meanings..
