I view success as having a good balance between family life and military career. Some may think that if you make it to the tops of our ranks that one is successful. I would disagree, as we move to the top we learn very fast that we must sacrifice certain things, such as time with our families or friends. For me, not being there to have an influence on my child's life affects how they will grow up and develop and this detracts from the time I could be using to do more in my career. Balance and proper decision making is key! What is your opinion of success?

I like Adam Carolla's definition: "I want to be successful enough that I can enjoy the kind of life my wife and kids have".

I think there was a wise Colonel on here (who I will have to look up to credit later) who said: "you will be a member of the military for (at most) thirty years, you will be a parent forever."
