How is this changing their view of what they want the Navy to be? How do you think the Navy’s perspective of promotable sailors is changing? 2018-12-17T13:20:03-05:00 SN Private RallyPoint Member 4215301

I recently saw an article in the Navy Times discussing the Navy shifting their eval focus from collaterals and community service to quals and more job-relevant training.

What are your thoughts on how this changes Big Navy’s perspective on a promotable sailor? A few years ago the number one focus was SHARP and sexual assault. Before that it was something else, and before that something else. I remember reading a quote, I think it was actually by a Navy Admiral, who said, "if sexual assault is our number one priority, then winning wars is not our number one priority."
I read that the Air Force was doing something similar with their ratings and changing the focus back to war skills instead of community service.
