How do you keep up with local politics?

Let's face it, my civic duties take a backseat to my family, church, and work. I would love to be more engaged as a voter, but it seems like an intimidating task. If anyone has easy resources or simple advice I'm all ears.

Part of me wants to flood the system and show up completely ignorant, and vote all Republican! Anything to change the tide and promote a little bit of conservatism...

I've honestly found being a member of a local politics page on Facebook to be useful. I also always vote absentee giving me ample time to look up each candidate. It's much more difficult at the bottom of the ballot.

Run for office. Sit on boards and commissions,, work with local politicians, work elections among a few things.

Most politics is really local. Find out who is running for your state senate and House of Representatives, see what they've actually done and decide who to vote for...and BTW, virtually everyone is off on Election Day so volunteer at the polls either for the candidates of your choice or be a poll watcher.
