How do you join a specific VFW lodge?

I received a confirmation email with my membership number, but it says I'm a "member-at-large".

Visit the post of your choice and apply for membership to that post. It should be a no-fee transfer, but the post membership must accept your application.

Fill out the app and turn it into that post’s adjutant.

You have to contact a Post in your area, and ask them to transfer you.
