How do you feel at the beginning of a 24 hour duty?

That looks like an HP Z600 Computer under the desk. Cant say that ever happened to me, nor have I ever seen it in my time. However I will say the feel did hit when there was only 2 hours remaining on a 24 hour shift, just to have the shift end and all of sudden because it was a day off I felt awake afterwards.

Doing the old bob and weave would give a guy whiplash if you wasn't careful. I hated that 1-4 hours, time never went so slow!!

LOL, we'd be trying to stay warm enough to sleep while sitting cockpit alert. Pilot, nav and boom asleep, and poor co listening to the radios. Why not Minot?

One thing I did like about the Marine Corps. We had two man watches, and a rack. 1 up, 1 down, unless there was a reason for both of us to be up, have the other guy sleeping. It's just not feasible (as opposed to possible) to "stay alert" for 24 hours straight. So swap off for 4 hours in the dead of night.

If you read during CQ time the book titled "I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell", I can promise you this book is going to keep you awake and you gonna be laughing so hard that everyone will be awake too.

This was the one duty where boring was good because if there was anything exciting that meant a ton extra paperwork. And "exciting" almost always happened at 0230 or 0400.

Lol I loved 24s because of the it was 1 on 2 off and I got to hang out with the firefighters AD and civilians. We were a close nit bunch.

I used to love 24 hour duty. I was and still am a "night owl". The only thing I didn't like was that most of the shops I worked in required us to still work the next day.

this is about the time (even at 0200) that the commander and/or 1sg comes in and yells 'at ease!' omg 'pop goes the weasel' to the extreme!

One time while pulling 24hr duty at V Corp HQ, Frankfurt, the day before my shift began I took a trip down the Rhine. It was the "Flaming on the Rhine" tour. I didn't realize I wouldn't get back to the dock until 0430 and my shift began at 0600. Needless to say my 24hr shift was one to remember, but somehow I don't remember too much of it.

At the Beginning great, at 0200-0400 that was the hardest part for me Ned of course the last hour. That's when Coffee and Copenhagen became my best friend.
