How do you feel about this? Are ratings that important for ESPN?

If you don't know me by now; I tend to avoid sensational journalism and like to remain objective. That's when I saw this meme, I quickly went ahead to check facts. Even though I now know that it was a rumor as far as SGT Noah Galloway being a "runner-up", STILL the fact that he was not even nominated in the first place boggles my mind. This really got under my skin.

The United States today makes heroes of the Entertainment Industry and This Warfighter that refuses to quit is all but forgotten.
Americans all know about the Kardashians, and the Real Housewives of Where-the-heck-ever (Never saw real housewives like these) We need to make heros of Military Personnel.

You should make your heroes of those that did it for real, not the guy that plays it on television.
Bruce Jenner is listed as being Courageous for being a transgender...that is not courage, that is just freaking SAD.

Probably 99% of the RP community was cheering for Noah Galloway. Why? Because he represents US. The ESPY's and the Arthur Ashe Award didn't exist in 1976 --which is, in my estimation, when Jenner should have been eligible. His day has passed. ESPN can kiss our rosy red backsides ...'til football season. Then, we'll be right back in front of the tube every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights.

In the meantime, I propose the inaugural "RP Courage Award." This year's winner: SGT Noah Galloway, U.S. Army

Unfortunately, people have their own definitions of courage. What Caitlyn Janner did takes courage, but is it to say that it is more or less than what Noah Galloway does? However, one could argue (not necessarily me) that Galloway's is not necessary courage, but rather determination, hard work and dedication. Being military, we all tend to gravitate towards our service members and their actions, much as I can image those in the media do towards civilians.

My honest question is, is the outrage really because of his courage or because he is a veteran?

I mean, there are dozens if not hundreds of amputees or handicapped athletes that are doing similar if not more impressive things yet they were not nominated.

Why does it always have to be the veteran? We are the few and the mighty, not the almighty.

It's shame that ESPN just wanted ratings for their awards show because let's face it people will tune to see Ms Jenner speak all dressed up in a dress.
