How do you feel about the Cincinnati Zoo shooting the Gorilla after the child fell into it's enclosure?

Zoo did the right thing. I heard the gorilla was carrying the boy around its "cage." Wow. That was a close call!

A child's life was in danger. Anything less may not have ended that danger.

The right thing. Unfortunate, but right. Now, if the child was playing second fiddle to a smart phone or the parents were otherwise inattentive they should be arrested.

The zoo did the only thing they could do - full-grown male gorillas can rip a grown man's arm out of it's socket. No, the real crime here is the boy's parents, who should be criminally charged, and held financially accountable.

I seen the video gorilla was protecting the kid parents should be shot for not paying attention cause from what I read that kid had to put alot of effort into getting in to the enclosure

Like to have seen the Gorilla Tranquilized, Child rescued, Parents locked up do to Child Neglect.. the Child is supposed to be safe, and cared for.. what was the issue.. were the parents on a Cell-Phone, or playing kissy face in public.. If guilty of neglect.. Lock them up.. YOU want Children ?... LOVE THEM, its YOUR fault they are here !!!

I worked in the zoo and aquarium industry for 20 years after leaving the military. Seeing parents lift their children above barriers so that they can see better is a daily occurrence. Can't remember how many times a child was bitten by a gar in a tank that was at least 2 feet taller than the child. We actually had to investigate these incidents and invariably the parent was holding the child and allowing him/her to put their hands in the water. Can't help but suppose that this is the case here. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums has specific standards for barriers that separate guests from animals in exhibits. There is no way that any barrier lower than the height of a 3 year old would meet AZA standards, so the child must have been raised above this barrier somehow. The parents were negligent in some way for this incident to have happened, period. It's a shame that the gorilla had to be shot, but the whole incident could have been avoided if the parents had been more responsible. Once the child was in contact with the gorilla, the staff did the best thing for the safety of the child.
