I believe in freedom of speech but not when you are insulting a specific people. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airman do not make the choices to go kill people or start a war, yet they get blamed. The page says they do not wish us harm, but they call us stupid...

What do you make of pages such as this?

When I was a young man and considering which branch of the military I was going to join, my dad had a conversation with me about who I would be defending. He told me I would be fighting for the “Salt of the earth” people and not the guy who was protesting my existence from the streets of whatever city he was in. At the time, I agreed with his thought. I was young and he was a veteran of three years in the Army and 17 years in the Navy. After time, I realized I am fighting for both. We who serve volunteered to write the blank check in the amount of up-to and including our life. We do not serve for a specific group, rather we serve for the entirety of our nation, good or bad, because we believe in our nation, our Constitution, and the idea of America.

They can say whatever they feel like saying. They can tell me I am an automaton with no original thought. I do not care. I know why I am here, I do not need to be validated by someone as closed minded as this person appears to be.

Let them display their ignorance, doesn't bother me. Plenty of people have it buried deep in their heads that we are the reason so many countries have been invaded and people killed, that we the soldiers are the problems. I've been called a crazed gunman, a lunatic, and a baby killer at different times in my life.

Let them say what they want, but they do not understand. One day they may need us, and we will be there to defend them because that is what we do. Maybe then they can open their eyes and see how idiotic they are.

Show your lack of support for their ideals by not supporting them.
They are irrelevant, keep them that way by ignoring them . (My former troops are gasping for air..and screaming They...THEY, who the fuck are THEY SGM.......lol, so for them I expand.. they are the ones who would make such a page as what was posted in the thread starter)

The pages are a bunch of BS posted by people who have NO knowledge of the military and who have some sort of perceived ax to grind. Most will someday actually wake up in the real world. But until then I just blow them off.

As long as they're not promoting physical violence towards Military Members then they're pretty much covered by the First Ammendment. That being said I have First Ammendment rights too.

While I think they should never see the light of day, I agree with CSM Private RallyPoint Member, they really aren't worth our time and effort to spend "one of my give a f*#s on" (love that phrase by the way).

Throughout history, people have always tried to be against some of the other. While we have taken the time to help protect their ability to post such stupidity, it is ever going to end. While people are allowed and encourage their own thoughts and ideas, this type of thing will continue so just brush it off and do something positive to help improve those around you. Then your actions will echo louder in history than some idiot's attempt at social media marketing.

These are just people that have never joined anything worth wile or bigger than themselves. It is my belief that everyone should serve at least three years. There are a lot of countries that do that. I think it would give people a better understanding on what we do.

Well, I believe in the first amendment, so I believe they have the right to express their beliefs. I don't agree with them, but that isn't a good enough reason to get upset over something that doesn't harm me or those I care about in the slightest.

While I despise these type of pages I would have to say that the people that put them up are confused as to where to put their anger. These types of pages have only one objective and that is to help the creator support his or her claims about said group. When service members comment on those pages or about those pages it gives them more attention and sometimes more ammo to "support" their theories about the military. The best thing that we can all do is to simply ignore them and accept that the people who create them are ignorant to the true cause of their own anger.

Those pages disappoint me. In part it is because those people who create those pages will never be able to fathom the type and amount of sacrifice made by those who wear a uniform and by their families. The other part that disappoints me is the lack of desire to educate themselves before throwing up those sites.

However, I always fall back to a quote attributed to Voltaire which says "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

Unfortunately one does not need to pass a test to enjoy freedom of speech.

When I hear about these anti- troop pages, of course I feel a bit frustrated, but I calmly take a breath and go on with my day. Mainly because I don't want to get upset for someone using their freedom and right to their opinion just because we disagree, it is what we as Military fight for, for the right to say your opinion so that's just how I see it people sharing a similar opinion.

These are the mentally lazy and slothful among us. Every generation has them. They serve no real purpose other than to make themselves feel important because they have the ability and the right to speak freely. What is the natural reaction of people that have never lifted a finger to preserve or defend the rights they so freely use? It is to bite the hand that feeds them.

With the advent of the internet, the lazy and slothful have a new tool to reach more people and cast a wider net. They can go to school on mommy and daddy's money, learn leftist propagand and how to develop web sites. They can then sit in mommy and daddy's basement and create web sites to spew the BS that in their feeble minds passes for knowledge out to the world. They will reap a harvest because there are many more as lazy and slothful as them. Consider the source then keep the F#@* you might have given to them as they do not deserve it.

They are only set and kept free by better people than them. If you want to see one of the better people, look in the mirror or at the profiles on this website. F#*& them all.

To talk about us, put us down, call us names is nothing new, just ignorance. The people who do these thing have a mental block, we don't do it for ourselves, but for them to have the right to say and do these things. In most other countries they would either be shot or imprisoned. Ignorance is a disease for which there is no cure. While they burn my ass, it is their right, although most of them are highly mistaken in their view points, to post them, it's is one of the Freedoms WE serve so dearly to protect and uphold.
