How do you disable your profile from showing up in a search engine?

It may sound like sarcasm, but, don't have a profile. That's the only sure way.

I was not aware our profiles here did show up! i would ask in the feedback tab on the right!

This is usually done via a text file called robots.txt. Some spiders and bots are programmed to looked for this file. It will tell the spider or bot where and what it can index. This is something that will need to be done by the web server admin. However not all bots and spiders care about the robots.txt file. Go with the logic that if you put it on the web assume others can access it as its in the wild.

You can adjust your privacy settings on the settings page. Simply change your name to "hide" under the public setting. Your name will not appear on the profile's public page. This is the default state for service members, and veterans are public by default.

Delete your social media accounts and go off the grid for about 6 years. Eventually, no one will remember them and you can come back and re create them. However, the cycle will start all over again.

Seriously though, regardless of what you do to protect yourself someone can always find something on you. Good luck.
