How do you cut charges on electric bills during the winter?

I have been known a a light sentry to my family. We only use lights we need and have all on timers so they go off and come on as needed.

In the winter? I don't. When you live in central Mississippi the electric bill cuts itself in the winter since the air conditioner doesn't have to run nonstop. This isn't a joke. My electric bill in the summer is probably twice as high as in the winter.

As for the heat? It runs a little I guess. We have gas logs that takes care of most of our heating needs.

Here in South Texas, winter is generally about two weeks long, we open all the windows and enjoy the break from the heat.
