How do you compete for the EIB if you are a Reserve Soldier?

Most places are walk on. Call and get a POC first though.

It's going to be hard. You are likely going to have to find an AC or NG unit that will let you participate in their event. Or live on Oahu, maybe. As you have not doubt noticed, there are very few infantry formations (in fact, 1, in Oahu) in the USAR.

On the plus side, there is one more BN of Infantry than there is of Armor...

There are no more infantry units in the reserves. Only in the national guard.

It may not be that hard. If you go to the EIB webpage at Fort Benning's website you can see where the next one's are and get a point of contact. The issue is letting you go. Your state or unit will have to put you on AT orders for is. One week is train up and the next if the test. It can be done but must States don't see the value in it when you are going to miss your regular AT.

There is no infantry in the reserves

Infantry reservist? How did that happen? I thougt Army Reserves only had support MOSs.

Each company had like 10 slots and and battalion sent us to ft. Irwin to get in on an EIB that was already scheduled. We did get cheated on a lot of training time. We had about a week to train, and another to test. Qualify, land nav, road March, and test. It was rough and we did great, I want to say it was about 50% pass.
