We probably don't. We give them driver's licenses in many states with no real proof of citizenship. Thanks to motor voter laws they are then registered to vote. Since the courts have blocked states from asking for ID at the polls it is just luck if one is caught.

Is this a thing? In the last ten years this is the only case I've heard. It seems like Texas is handling it.
I'm legitimately asking. Please toss up a link if you have one available, I'd like to know if this is a problem.

Stopping ILLEGAL voters can only be accomplished by VOTER ID requirement.

I'm not sure why all 50 Governors can't agree on having specific markings on a drivers license/state ID, that denote citizen (non-felon or felon) or non-citizen. If you're a felon or non-citizen - you obviously can't vote.

But getting all 50 governors to agree - ha, GOP and Democrats couldn't come to a mutual agreement of such....they can't even agree to have valid ID to be shown prior to voting as is. Let's see, I'm 38 and I have to show ID to buy alcohol, show ID to fly, show ID to get into certain establishments, I have to have an DL to drive, and I'm sure if I used tobacco products, I'd have to show ID to purchase said items as well. I'm not a fan of a separate voter ID, just modification of the ID (DL or state ID) that most states require or offer at the least.

Proof of citizenship to register. Then valid photo ID to vote.

Start by declaring ineligible any candidate that encourages illegal voting and removal from office if the one doing the encouragement is in office.

Looking at my Texas Drivers License and Voter Registration card, there is nothing about my Immigration status. While I was born in this country, the only thing the Texas DL has is that I am a Veteran, this status is marked when the veteran is 100% disabled. The interesting piece of this is that Texas had a very strict voter registration ID law that was found but the Supreme Court to be unconstitutional and therefore the law was struck down.
