Well that's a hard question. In the military you learn to be very self reliant, you know that you can rely on your brothers and sisters in arms, but you also become very proficient and taking care of yourself. The first thing that needs to happen is that they need to know its ok to get help. It doesn't make you weak to utilize the support of others. From there we need competent community organizers that understand the needs of the veterans in their own community. They need to find these veterans and talk to them, get to know them and make decisions together. What can break down the system is programs that try to read minds. Some may need help getting a job, clothes, vehicles fit for their disabilities, food, or shelter. Than once they figure out their needs they work with local citizens to help out. After that you need to follow up with them. Once you've helped once it may not be over. Check in once in a while. Most importantly they just need some trustworthy people to help make some sort of difference in their life.
