How do we as a country deal with people who teach and believe that the holocaust is a hoax?

Listen folks, because this is what happens when we remove any intellectual honesty from our education system. Keep voting for establishment candidates from the two big parties, and they will continue making us stupid, until there are so few educated people in the country that we will matter for nothing. Wait, I think they've already done it. Case in point.

This shows the parents are not involved and this child is being manipulated to believe such inaccuracies is utterly disgusting. This is a failure on so many levels, especially the teacher.

I don't know about how we deal with this as a country. There's a guy in my class in college who firmly believes that the Holocaust didn't happen, and you could probably take him to Auschwitz and he still wouldn't believe. It's similar in my mind to a cult mentality, where you can explain to them till you're blue in the face, using historical and empirical evidence, the truth and they still wouldn't believe.

Sometimes you cant fix stupid.

Edit: For those who seem to believe that the Holocaust didn't happen have them go and talk to a survivor and have them look them in the eye as they tell them it didn't happen, or listen to there story firsthand. This may not be a realistic course of action but it would IMHO be powerful.

I watched a German made film on our local PBS station two nights ago about the Holocaust. The Germans filmed the Jews as they starved to death, and took notes. True they got typhus and lice, but not all heads were shaved. The film showed women showering at a Red Cross facility and their hair must have been washed dozens of times to get the lice out. Trenches were dug to put the bodies in. They killed the women first and had the men drag or carry the bodies to the trenches. In one compound alone, at least 50 thousand were killed. Some of the trenches had so many bodies it was impossible to count all of them. I can't understand how anyone, who saw a film like this, couldn't believe it didn't happen. It's not like religion or demons. The proof is in the films made by their killers.

Depends if its the easy way or the hard way. If its meant to be as 'good christian' brothers, then there's only so much you can do. But if you don't want to be a good christian brother, here's what some of the options are:

1. Find people that have lost a lot to racist bigots. Perhaps holocaust survivors, black Americans who remember when loved ones were lynched for being black, refugee camp survivors out of Asia. Get the holocaust denier, put him or her in one side of the room, lock him up, and get the holocaust survivors among the others, and just put it out there. Say it with a straight face- deny anti-semitism or any of the other hate-filled creeds.

2. Obviously most people wouldn't stand up long in that sort of direct environment. Film this kid's reaction on a camera phone, film it good so there's no deniability, and then parade that video to every holocaust denier you can find, and just keep doing that.

3. Then, if and when this kid is the target of any sort of racial bigotry, just say it with a straight-face: why are you lying to us with your victimhood mentality, kid? And just keep denying it.

Eventually, the false logic of the holocaust denier will become apparent. Or, the kid will go nuts. But points 1 through 3 are not christian or even humane ways of dealing with it.

Whenever I see posts like this my WTF-dar goes off. I looking under the hood on this story I find nothing but re-quotes of an original story which can't seem to be located. The link to the link on the story posted here goes to a page asking for donations. When altering the search to just the young ladies name and Holohoax I find the same thing .. the same lines repeated over and over and over on different web sites. One of the only few original lines is "YouTube Video Purports to Show California Schoolgirl Boasting of A Grade for Holocaust-Denying Essay"
Note the word "Purports".
Nowhere is the name of the school mention .. but the term "public" is used as to show how bad these nasty old public schools are.

The video is now unavailable .. so absolutely nothing is this can be fact checked.
Makes you wonder about the real intentions of the origins of this.

It should be mandatory that every human being goes visits Dachau Concentration camp outside Munich and Auscwitz itself. That way there will be no doubt that these places existed and they can see first hand what happens at these horrible places. If you want a good history lesson on how cruel man can be to another, go visit!!

I have come to realize that my original intent was lost to the validity of the example provided. I felt that the video lent the potential essay some credibility. However, the fact that this has ben circulating since 2013 on mostly anti-Israel or Palestine holocaust web sites may indicate that it is less than genuine. I do realize that there are plenty of jackwagons in this country that would happily fabricate the whole thing.

That said, I first apologize for propagating BS on the internet, a thing I usually shy away from.

But my original intent stands, that many leaders in our country desire to mislead us and generate ignorance amongst the populace in order to maintain power and mask their intent, which often varies, and is the reason that I would lack specifics. As this goes on, the ignorant and mislead become the educators, history is forgotten or skewed, and we are doomed to repeat it.

You cannot combat ignorance and unwillingness to acknowledge historical fact beyond presenting the irrefutable proof as evidence of the truth. No matter what one does, lies will still be told and people will believe what ever they want to believe. Stifling free-speech doesn't fix the issue either.

SFC Walter Mack I feel the exact same way, and have for a long time. Years ago I saw a goof ball movie named Idiocracy, and I saw the future of our country. If you ever see it you will be able to see that the events from the movie are already occurring in our society today.

I think that it’s appropriate for me to begin by saying that the young woman in your example is incorrect, and it is unfortunate that she is been sucked into drivel. At the same time those who get excited about these situations should temper their anger, as the primary peddler of this filth in the United States is the white power movement. Groups such as the American Nazi Party (ANP) have become particularly adept at recruiting disenfranchised white youth into their movement after overreactions to misguided racial bigotry. This is not the 1st time that I’ve heard the story of this young woman, and it appears that the entire country that she hopefully calls home is attacking her because she wrote a bad paper. I’m sure if you look at the comments from the original story you’ll find somebody who agrees with me, and somebody attacking that person saying that they are more upset about the teacher giving her an A for the work. This is not the case because if they cared most about the teacher they would post a picture of the teacher, and instead the picture of the young woman who is most likely just confused has been plastered all over the Internet.

I mean do whatever you want, but just remember that a 15-year-old is going to as all 15-year-olds do which is to run from those attacking them, and find shelter with those defending them. In this case the people who are on the right side of history are attackers, and in the defenders are the Nazis.
