How do I take a CLEP/DSST?

I was recently advised by my student counselor that I should look into taking a CLEP/DSST to test out of some classes, as it would allow me to graduate a semester sooner. I am a reservist that is 200 miles from my unit, which to my knowledge does not have an education counselor at it. Can anyone help me with figuring out the where, when, how of taking these exams?

You should be able to get information regarding whether you can take CLEPs at a nearby base by contacting their education office. If not, you should contact your admin folks and they can give you information for the higher HQ education experts. Also, they can tell you whether or not you're allowed to take the tests while not drilling.

SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member The best answer is going to come from a base education center as they can likely fund your CLEP exam expenses. Just noticed you're a MN guy. I believe Lt Col Private RallyPoint Member isn't too far away from your base and might know of some regional resources for DoD education offices. Thought I would include her just in case.

I've taken multiple CLEP and all you have to do is go on their website and verify your militsry service. Once you do that you pick a CLEP testing center and call them up to set up a test date. It's really been that simple for me every time. On test day I show up with my ID and receipt showing its free of charge because I am active duty .

CLEP/DSSt are great. The VAST majority of my BS are from CLEP/DSST. Most colleges will take 30~ credits however (about 1 years worth). It's a chance to speed up the process and avoid having to take classes (and pay for) for things you already know.

That said, you can coordinate through Base Education (for free) OR at a local testing center for $100~/each. They are worth 3-6 credits each (DSST can be upper level).

go to a four year university non student application of 70-120 dollars for clep exam. its just an exam you can take whether you are a student or not.
